Partner is adopting the Swedish model whereby mobile operators compete fully with landline networks.
Partner Communications Co. Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE:PTNR; LSE:PCCD) plans to provide cellular modems for domestic use and intends upgrading Internet surfing speed to 21 megabytes per second. Sources inform "Globes" that the company plans skipping over the software that allows surfing at 14.4 megabytes per second. Partner is adopting the Swedish model of using its mobile infrastructure to compete with fixed landline infrastructure companies.
Partner looks to progress on two fronts. On the one hand, its cellular network will compete with those of Bezeq Israel Telecommunications Company Ltd. (TASE:BZEQ) and a target=new href=http://www.hot.net.il/>Hot Cable Systems Media Ltd. (TASE: HOT), while on the other hand it is setting up a network to compete in the Internet Service Provider (ISP) and landline telephony sectors using Bezeq and HOT's infrastructures, following the model of other ISPs.
