Sources inform ''Globes'' that fabless semiconductor start-upAmimon Ltd. has raised $7 million from one of its customers. The money is part of a $10 million financing round that the company closed a year ago. The company has raised $46 million since it was founded in 2004.
Amimon declined to comment on the repot.
Amimon develops processors for wireless high-definition interface (WHDI) for video broadcasting. The technology enables wireless video broadcasts over short distances at high speed without compression, while preserving data intact. It allows flat-panel televisions and multimedia projectors to wirelessly interface to all HDTV video sources at a quality equivalent to that achieved with wired interfaces such as component video.
Amimon says that its processor can achieve speeds of up to 3 Gbps, far faster that current short-range wireless communications chipsets.
Amimon's investors include Walden Israel, Cedar Fund, and Evergreen Venture Partners, as well as Stata Venture Partners, Argonaut, and Motorola Ventures.
