Egodan Dan Cities Association for Environmental Infrastructures and Ayalon Highways Ltd. are jointly building a new sewer line, the Ayalon Line, at a cost of NIS 500 million. The three-year construction project will carry sewage from cities in the greater Tel Aviv area to the Shafdan sewage treatment plant in Rishon LeZion.
The deadline for bids in the tender for the pipejacking work on the 7.5-kilometer stretch of the sewer line between Ganei Yehoshua in north Tel Aviv and the Darom Park in the southern part of the city is this week. The terms of the NIS 200 million engineering tender stipulate that each bid must include an Israeli contractor together with an international company. Work is slated to begin this summer.
Meanwhile Shikun u'Binui Solel Boneh Building and Infrastructure Ltd. has begun building the pumping station at the Darom Park at a cost of NIS 70 million.
The present tender is one of four tenders in the project. Two tenders are the civil engineering and the electromechanical equipment tenders for the Ayalon pumping station, which will be published at the end of 2009. The third tender is for the compressed sewage line, which was won by contractor Abraham Yitzhak Ltd.
Egodan chairman Arnon Giladi said, "In order to meet the growing urban needs and to provide back up for the present sewage system, Egodan is now embarking on a massive sewage infrastructure investment."
