Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: TSEM; TASE: TSEM) said that its subsidiary Jazz Semiconductor, Inc., will produce semiconductors for a Korean company.
Cesign, a Korean-based fabless analog semiconductor company, selected Jazz’s 0.25-micron Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS process to develop and manufacture its Class-D amplifier targeted for the consumer electronics market.
Target applications for Cesign’s Class-D amplifier include cellular phones, smart phones, Bluetooth headsets, portable audio, FPTV, LCD monitor and docking stations for music players.
Cesign CEO Kim JeongPyo said that one reason the company chose Jazz was "their excellent local Korean sales and technical support.”
Cesign was founded in 2006 and is located near Seoul, South Korea.
Yesterday, Migdal Ha'emek-based Tower announced that it had signed a five year service contract with Applied Materials. Applied will service all the Applied Materials tools in Tower’s Fab 2 facility, including CVD*, PVD, etch, metrology, RTP, CMP and epitaxial deposition systems.
Shares in Tower closed yesterday at $0.28, giving it a market cap of $44.8 million.
