Dalit gas find seen smaller than initial estimates

The field is nevertheless expected to be commercial.

The size of the natural gas find in the Dalit well off the coast at Hadera is now expected to be smaller than the initially estimated 20 billion bcm, energy sources say.

The partners in the drilling, Noble Energy of the US and the Delek Group and Isramco, are due to complete production tests of the well this week. Although the amount of gas seems to be smaller than was thought at first, it is still a high quality reserve, and is expected to meet commercial criteria. It is estimated that the size of the field needs to be 10-15 billion bcm to make it commercial.
