Hutchison Telecom chairman in Israel to sell Partner

Canning Fok will meet the bidders in order to push the sale forward.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that Hutchison Telecommunications chairman Canning Fok is in Israel to push forward the sale of the company's stake in Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR). Fok also serves as the chairman of Partner.

Fok will meet Amikam Cohen and Dan Eldar, who are handling Partner's sale. He will also meet the bidders.

Fok's arrival in Israel reflects the importance of the sale. He was preceded to Israel by Hutchison Telecommunications' CFO.

Partner has opened an information room for the bidders so that they can prepare binding bids for the company.

Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd. (NYSE: HTX; HKSE: 2332) owns 51.33% of Partner. Partner's share closed at $17.80 on Friday on Nasdaq, giving a market cap of $2.74 billion. The share rose 2.9% in morning trading on the TASE to NIS 70.46.
