Facebook surpasses YouTube

In Israel, "Globes" is the most popular business website from work.

The TIM TNS/Teleseker survey of Internet sites for August 2009 found that Facebook Israel is the fourth most popular website in Israel. Facebook Israel's weekly exposure rate rose by 2.3%, compared with July, to 51.7%, surpassing YouTube, which dropped to fifth place, with a weekly exposure rate of 51.5%.

Second hand sales site Yad2 had the largest weekly exposure rate growth in August, rising 16.9% to 30.3% to reach sixth place. The weekly exposure rate of Channel 2 franchisee Keshet Broadcasting Ltd. site Mako rose 6.1% to reach seventh place, its highest ever rating. Mako's growth can be attributed to the finals of "A Star is Born" reality show, launched last year.

The biggest loser in the ratings was news portal Nana10, whose weekly exposure rate fell 14.2% in August to 27.8%, pushing it down to eighth place.

The weekly exposure rates of the top three websites slipped during August, although their ranking remained unchanged. Google was number one, with a weekly exposure rate of 90.9%, followed by Walla! Communications Ltd., with 66.8%, and "Yediot Ahronot" news portal ynet with 57.1%. Tapuz People Ltd. and MSN Israel were both stable, with a weekly exposure rate or 21.9% and 19.8%, respectively.

Among economic sites, "Globes" remained the most popular site from workplaces in August, with a 34% jump in its weekly exposure rate to 18.4%, while TheMarker lagged behind with 16.6%.
