Better Place LLC is due to open its exhibition center next Sunday at Pi Glilot north of Tel Aviv. But Shai Agassi's company, which is developing a nationwide infrastructure of battery recharging stations and points for electric vehicles is yet to receive a license to operate the facility.
Better Place has spent the large year preparing the exhibition center, which includes 1.5 kilometers of roads, and a showroom for the Renault electric vehicles that it will supply customers. The center will also display typical samples of battery recharging terminals.
One of the reason's that Agassi chose the Pi Glilot site was because the removal of the gas terminal there was seen as a major victory for environmentalists, just as he sees his vehicles as part of a green revolution.
Better Place has invited many guests to next Sunday's gala opening of the center and claim to have a temporary license to operate the facility. But "Globes" was told by the Ramat Hasharon Municipality that the company has not yet met all the requirements needed in order to obtain a license.
