Israel's largest private power plant approved

The power station will run on natural gas.

The National Planning and Building Commission for National Infrastructures has approved the power station to be built by Dalia Power Energies Ltd. at Tel Tzafit. The natural gas-driven power station will be built in two stages, each of 435 megawatts. It will be Israel's largest private power station.

Dalia Power, run by CEO Eitan Meir, is negotiating a NIS 1 billion contract to buy gas from Tamar.

The power station is due to come on line in 2014.

Dalia Power is owned by owned by Hiram Epsilon Ltd. (43.3%), Energy Economy Ltd. (43.3%), Israel Infrastructure Fund (IIF) (10%), and Sigma Epsilon Ltd. (3.3%).
