Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI) (TASE: ARSP.B1) unit Elta System unveiled Othello Optical Hostile Fire Source Locator system at the Latrun Conference. Othello and precisely locates the sources of hostile fire, including antitank guided missiles, RPGs, canon fire, and gunfire on the battlefield. It can classify the treat and timing of the fire.
IAI says that Othello can be mounted on top of light tactical armored vehicles, infantry fighting vehicles, and airborne platforms. It can be integrated with various systems, such as remote-controlled weapon stations, command and control systems, active protection systems, and soft and hard-kill measures.
The small 10-kilogram system is operated by a single soldier. It can locate the source of fire and direct counter-fire. The system will later be able to locate the source of light arms fire in an urban environment. Elta says that the system can cover a large area, and that the first prototype will be ready for demonstrations by the end of the year.
IAI has also unveiled its Ghost, 4-kilogram small hovering unmanned platform that provides real-time intelligence to ground forces operating in urban areas. The Ghost can loiter for up to 30 minutes and has twin rotary electrical engines to reduce its acoustic signature and support day and night special mission operations.
IAI's ETOP- Electric Tethered Observation Platform is a purely electric-powered, tethered airborne platform for observation and other applications, which can be deployed from a static or moving ground vehicle or station, up to an altitude of 100 meters. IAI REX is a small ground robot, which operates as a beast of burden, carrying up 200 kilograms of supplies to support infantry units.
