Beit Shemesh 1,350-unit project set for approval

The urban renewal vacate and build project is slated for the town's Bialik neighborhood, mostly public housing built in the 1950s.

Minister of Housing and Construction Ariel Atias has submitted for cabinet approval a 1,350-unit vacate-and-build project in Beit Shemesh. The urban renewal project is slated for the town's Bialik neighborhood, mostly public housing built in the 1950s for secular and traditional Jews. The low-density buildings will be replaced with buildings of 8-12 floors each.

The project aims to revive Beit Shemesh's town center and strengthen its demographics. The Ministry of Housing will finance the NIS 2.5 million cost for changing the Urban Building Plan for the area.
