Electric car infrastructure developer Better Place LLC has lowered the price of the Renault Fluence by NIS 1,700 to NIS 121,200. The fall in price comes after purchase tax on electric cars was lowered by the Israeli government from 10% to 8%.
The Renault Fluence is the first mass produced electric car being sold in Israel and the first electric car being sold worldwide with an exchangeable electric battery. The car is powered solely by electricity and makes no noise and has no polluting emissions.
Better Place, which has developed a national infrastructure for electric vehicles of recharging points and battery exchange stations, is now in its commercial phase. Over six companies have signed purchase agreements for electric cars including Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL), HOT Telecommunication Systems Ltd. (TASE: HOT), and Keter Plastic.
