El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. (TASE: ELAL) is adding flights to Europe, North America, and Asia in its 2013 winter schedule. It will operate 23 weekly flights to North American destinations (New York, Los Angeles, and Toronto), up from 21 weekly flights last winter. There will be 17 weekly flights to New York.
El Al will operate 168 weekly flights to European destinations, up from 157 flights last winter, including 18 flights to Paris, 13 flights to London, and 17 flights to Moscow. Citing the popularity of Saturday night flights from European cities to Tel Aviv, the carrier will add flights from Barcelona and Frankfurt, in addition to the current flights from Paris, London, and Zurich. The carrier will also operate two weekly flights to Geneva during the winter.
El Al will increase its flights to Germany by 25% during the winter season. The decision to increase flights was apparently made in response to Lufthansa's decision to reduce the number of seats on routes from Germany to Tel Aviv. It will offer 20 weekly flights between Tel Aviv and German cities: nine weekly flights to Frankfurt, six to Berlin, and five to Munich. Last winter, it made five weekly to Frankfurt, five to Berlin, and four to Munich.
In its winter schedule, El Al will also operate 21 weekly flight to Asian destinations (Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Mumbai) and to Johannesburg, South Africa, up from 19 weekly flights to these destinations last winter.
The carrier will also make 17 domestic weekly flights to Eilat.
