Israel Electric Corp. is considering a pilot project of six electric cars to be expanded gradually if successful.
Sources inform "Globes" that Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) (TASE: ELEC.B22) is in talks to buy six Better Place Inc. electric cars in what is being described as a pilot project. IEC would then consider gradually expanding the scale of procurement if the pilot project is deemed successful. IEC's departmental managers already receive Toyota Prius hybrid cars.
IEC said, "As a national company we see importance in participating in the reduction to the environmental damage by introducing non-polluting vehicles to the company's fleet. This is a gradual process called a pilot in the current stage. Six vehicles currently being taken out of commission will be replaced electric vehicles and with this aim talks are being conducted with Better Place for sedans for middle management."
