The airline says the new flight path at Eilat Airport is unsafe.
El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. (TASE: ELAL) has cancelled two of its three flights to Eilat, after the Israel Civil Aviation Authority changed the landing and takeoff flight path at Eilat Airport. The change came into effect on Sunday.
"El Al examined the safety of flights on the new flight path, and in view of the recommendation by experts and El Al's chief pilot, El Al CEO Elyezer Shkedy decided to suspend today's flights to Eilat," said El Al in a statement.
Night flights to Eilat are unchanged.
Arkia Airlines Ltd. and Israir Airlines and Tourism Ltd. have both accepted the new flight path at Eilat and announced that their flights will be held on schedule.
