Labor sanctions at 5 Israel Chemicals plants

The workers committees at five Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) plants in the Negev today launched labor sanctions to protest the streamlining plan that management is drawing up.

As part of the labor sanctions, work at the five plants began at 10 am today, after union meetings. "Management has already begun implementing measures to make cutbacks at the plants, and the workers will be the first to pay the price," said Rotem Amfert Negev workers committee chairman Moshe Haddad. "Management is not consulting with us in its plans, making do with general and ambiguous presentations that do not detail the cutbacks. We won't allow management to throw away workers for whom these factories are the only livelihoods for themselves and their families."

The workers committees at the five plants intend to continue the labor sanctions in the coming days, and threaten to intensify them if management does not hold direct talks.
