The tender for the construction of private ports at Haifa and Ashdod has been postponed again. Sources inform ''Globes'' that the deadline for submitting bids was pushed back at the last moment from January 15 to February 17. The bids were divided into technical and financial bids. The deadline for technical bids is now in February, and the deadline financial bids will be in May.
Seven companies passed the tender's prequalification stage are Ashtrom Properties Ltd. (TASE:ASPR), Shapir Civil and Marine Engineering Ltd., Shikun & Binui Holdings Ltd. (TASE: SKBN), and companies from China, Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Israel Ports Development & Assets Company Ltd. told "Globes" in response that the deadline for the bids was postponed by one month at the bidders' request.
The tenders for building the Haifa Bay Port and the South Ashdod Port total NIS 8 billion. In addition to the construction tenders, the Ports Development Company is due to publish tenders for operating the ports by private parties. The Ports Development Company has not yet decided on the structure of these tenders, but they will probably resemble BOT tenders. In the ports operating tenders, the bidders will have to plan the financing and construction of the operating area, infrastructures systems and operating equipment at the two ports.
