A 25-year-old male was stabbed Wednesday evening outside a shopping mall in Petah Tikva, in the day’s fourth terror attack. The victim, Avi Landau, was moderately wounded in the attack. Paramedics treated him at the scene before evacuating him to the local hospital. Nearby civilians subdued and neutralized the attacker, Tamer Yunis Ahmed Vareidat, a 25-year-old from Daheira.
“There was a great tumult when we arrived at the scene,” said Magen David Adom paramedic Itay Tillinger. “On the side of the road lay a young man, conscious, suffering from stab wounds to his upper body. We treated him and evacuated him quickly to the intensive care unit at Beilinson medical center; he was in moderate but stable condition.”
Israel Police Central District Commander, Deputy Commissioner Moti Cohen, arrived at the scene of the attack, alongside Shin Bet personnel who questioned the attacker. Dozens of youths converged on the area screaming “Death to Arabs!” and complaining the attacker was not shot.
“This is the only way to eradicate terror,” said one youth. Another said: “No more Arabs in Petah Tikva - no nurses at the hospital, no mall workers. Any Arab who comes into the city will be greeted with a brick.”
Four Attacks
On Wednesday morning, a Palestinian woman stabbed a man in his thirties at the Lion’s Gate in Jerusalem; he was moderately wounded. The victim shot the attacker with his personal weapon, neutralizing her. She was evacuated to Hadassah Hospital.
Later in the day, a 38-year-old woman was lightly wounded when she was hit by rock throwers on a road in Gush Etzion. She was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. She claimed she was ambushed by several Palestinians, who tried to pull her out of her vehicle before she managed to escape.
On Wednesday afternoon, an IDF soldier was stabbed on a public bus in Kiryat Gat by a terrorist. The attacker disarmed the soldier and escaped to a nearby residential building. A police force that arrived on the scene killed the terrorist. The soldier was evacuated to the hospital in Ashkelon, suffering from light wounds.
