Israel's Fattal Hotels Ltd. is opening its first UK hotel. The company has leased the Holiday Inn Heathrow Airport in London for 25 years and it will open on March 16 as part of Fattal's Leonardo hotel chain.
The four-star Leonardo Hotel London Heathrow Airport has 230 rooms, 11 meeting rooms, a restaurant, bar and spa, and is within walking distance of Teminals 1,2, and 3. The hotel is worth an estimated £30 million with an annual return of 5% to the owners who are leasing the hotel to Fattal.
The hotel will undergo renovation in May and June while remaining open and will be managed by Saar Sharon, who formerly managed Eli Papouchado's Park Plaza Europe Hotels in the UK.
Fattal Hotels was founded in 1998 and has 30 hotels in Israel under the Leonardo, Herods, U and Magic brands and an additional 35 hotels in Europe under the Leonardo brand in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Hungary, and now the UK. Annual revenue from the European chain is €250 million, and the company has 3,000 employees.
Fattal Hotels owner and CEO David Fattal says that the chain is in talks to open more hotels in the UK. Fattal said, "Several years ago we set out with a vision to build a new hotel brand that would grace the leading capitals of Europe and we are today proud to be opening in one of the world's leading tourist destinations. We hope this will be just the first Leonardo hotel that we will open in England."
