The volume of mortgages taken slid to NIS 3.92 billion in September, the lowest amount since January 2014, according to Bank of Israel figures published today.
While September this year includes the Jewish New Year holiday (Rosh Hashanah), it also featured an economic recovery following Operation Protective Edge in the Gaza Strip.
Mortgages taken at fixed interest totaled NIS 1.76 billion, and mortgages taken at varying interest totaled NIS 2.15 billion.
The volume of mortgages taken totaled NIS 3.77 billion in January while the NIS 4.99 billion taken in mortgages in July was the highest monthly total in 2014.
