In line with the previous predictions, January vehicle deliveries totaled a record-breaking 33,360, 23% more than in January 2014, which was also a record month. Three brands considered strong in the leasing market stood out in January deliveries: Hyundai (4,399 deliveries), Mazda (3,328), and Kia Motors (3,281).
Sources in the sector believe that strong deliveries of the South Korean brands, whose prices are dollar-linked, are a result of intensive efforts to push cars for the institutional market at the old prices from late 2014 in order to profit from the rise in the official price of these brands in the January 2015 price list.
Toyota was in fourth place with 3,045 deliveries, following by Mitsubishi in fifth with 2,294 and Skoda in sixth with 2,100. The luxury brands also did well in January, after many customers waited for the 2015 models. Audi delivered 901 units in a single month, almost 40% of all of its deliveries in 2014. Mercedes delivered a record 550 units, and BMW put 408 new cars on the road.
Another interesting figure was the 208 units delivered of Renault's new popular model Dacia. On the other hand, business prospered impressively in the segment of cars priced at NIS 900,000 to NIS 2 million. No fewer than 73 such cars took to the road in in January alone, including quite a few extra powerful sports cars.
