The Central Bureau of Statistics housing price index rose 1.3% in September-October.
The Central Bureau of Statistics published the updated housing price index today showing a 1.3% rise in September-October this year. This means that the pace of the rise in housing prices in Israel has accelerated to 8.5% on an annual basis, which compares with 7% in the Central Bureau of Statistics' last published figures. The Central Bureau of Statistics stresses, however, that because of the incidence of the Jewish holiday season in October, the figure is based upon only half the transactions carried out in the relevant months. The law allows 50 days for reporting transactions, and many buyers have not yet reported purchases.
The general Consumer Price Index reading for October was also released today. The index rose by 0.2% in October. It has risen by a similar amount since the beginning of the year. The outstanding rises last month were in prices of fresh fruit (4%), clothing and footwear (3.9%), and education services (0.7%).
