The Tel Aviv suburb will join a growing number of cities affected by the massive infrastructure project.

Nearly a month after work on the light-rail infrastructure project began in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan will join the list of cities under construction.

The preliminary work for the first light-rail station in the city, opposite the Diamond Exchange, will start Thursday at 8 pm, with changes to the flow of traffic expected.

The construction will be executed in two stages. In the first, work will begin on the south side of the train station, which will be covered by a concrete section next year which will allow for movement over the underground work. In the second phase, the central section in the underground station will be dug, followed by the northern section. Later, an additional station will be built in the Tel Aviv suburb - the Bialik station.

Minister of Transport Yisrael Katz promised "the work will be conducted with as minor an impact as possible to the routines and quality of life of the residents. We are employing every measure to alleviate the inconvenience to the public, and we are meticulously preparing for the work."
