The subject was discussed during a visit to Mobileye's headquarters this week by the mayor of Taipei and leading Taiwanese figures.
Mobileye is likely to participate in autonomous vehicle trials taking place in Taiwan, the Taiwanese media has reported. A high-ranking delegation from Taiwan that included the mayor of Taiwanese capital Taipei visited Mobileye and took trips around Jerusalem in the company's demonstration vehicle.
Taiwan is the most advanced Asian country in autonomous vehicle infrastructure. The country passed a law last year exempting "autonomous land vehicles" (i.e., cars) and "aerial vehicles" (drones) from the regulations applying to regular vehicles and aircraft. Early in 2018, Taipei announced a smart city project in which a test site for unmanned vehicles was established. The Taiwanese press reported last August, "Mobileye and Intel are interested in taking part in Taiwan's test program and are looking for cooperative ventures for this purpose." Sources said that the subject was discussed in the current visit. Mobileye said, "The company has a number of projects in Tailwan."
