The prime minister said harsher measures would be taken against the Islamic Movement in Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would take measures against the Islamic Movement in Israel at a Thursday press conference convened in the wake of the current wave of terror. Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon, Interior Minister Gilad Erdan, IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Eisenkot, and interim Police Commissioner Benzi Sau were also present.

“We are in the midst of a wave of terror,” said Netanyahu. “Terrorists spurred by hatred are attempting to hurt our people. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims. In the recent days and hours, I have seen heroism of soldiers, of police officers, and of civilians. It requires unusual courage, and we are proud to be part of a country with such citizens.”

Netanyahu added, “The IDF is operating on all fronts. We have clarified the rules of engagement against those throwing rocks and firebombs.”

He continued, “We will prove that terror does not pay - and we will beat it. I want to tell the mothers out there - the concern is natural, it should not be ignored, we need to remain steadfastly aware and follow the directives of the security forces and local authorities. They are doing everything in their power to restore order.”

The Israeli leader then addressed his directive barring politicians from visiting the Temple Mount. “We do not need more fireworks to heat up the situation on the ground. We will take decisive measures against the Islamic Movement in Israel and against other inciters.”
